Everybody is an Artist is an installation artwork/workshop that I created for the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Takeover the Museum event in 2022. The piece was installed for two days during its initial run, and was invited back to the museum again in 2023.
Everybody is an Artist invites participants to respond to a series of prompts such as “What art inspires you?” and “What does it mean to be human?” with small artworks of their own. Once participants complete their artwork response, the piece is scanned and incorporated in real time into an interactive p5.js sketch. In the sketch, every artwork from that day of the exhibition forms into a large ball/clump that reacts to movement in the room.
The piece was well received by the public, with nearly 1000 active participants, and twice as many viewers over the course of its exhibition and received local media coverage:
