Kyle is an interactive media artist, web developer, and filmmaker from Salt Lake City, Utah. His academic interests focus on the interplay between humans, their environment, and technology. In addition to his academic studies at New York University Abu Dhabi, Kyle has spent the last two years working as an assistant and collaborator with Professor Aaron Sherwood on several large interactive Art Installations such as Micro and the Wooden Mandala.Previously, Kyle worked as a lead designer and web developer at the innovative financial technology startup Velvet.Working with the ReactJS framework, Kyle integrated a content management system and other backend elements with a seamless frontend design. Through his various working and educational experiences, Kyle has developed a depth of skills in a variety of coding languages and standards. Kyle’s other recent projects include working with professional researchers at the NYUAD Kinetics Lab to code and drive a Boston Dynamics robot dog for an interactive performance, and constructing musical robots for NYUAD’s Electrofest concert with Professor Michael Shiloh and the Institute for Critical Robotics. In 2022, Kyle debuted his interactive instillation, "Everybody is an Artist" at the Louvre Abu Dhabi University Take Over the Museum event. The piece was invited back to the museum in 2023. Kyle has also had extensive experience in technical filmmaking, working as a teaching assistant for NYUAD’s cinematography course and performing a variety of roles from gaffer to director of photography on over a dozen film sets. Kyle’s interest in film is an outgrowth of his earlier work as a journalist where he won several state-level awards for both written and video media.
